41. Mountain Dew & Weight Loss
I’m currently drinking a glass of Mountain Dew. I love the stuff. Would you believe that yesterday was the first time I tried it? I mean, I’d heard of it but I’d never gone out of my way to drink any and all the events I go to serve coke, pepsi, fanta and all the other generic party drinks.
Today I underwent an interesting thought process when deciding whether or not I should drink the aforementioned beverage.
I was sitting in front of the computer and I was bored silly. I wasn’t willing to do anything productive and there wasn’t anyone around to keep me entertained. The fridge was directly to my right and I was staring at it intensely. I wasn’t feeling particularly hungry. Or thirsty. But I had nothing better to do so I gave in and grabbed the bottle from the fridge.
For the record, I’m perfectly content with my current level of fitness. My complete lack of coordination aside, I’m quite decent at most sports and can run laps around the school oval with the best of them.
That being said, these days I rarely get around to doing any physical activity and spend most of my time sitting in front of the telly or the computer at my house, at friend’s houses, at restaurants, cinema’s, on couches, chairs, benches, cushions, carpets and any surface in general, really. (Forgive me for any grammatical errors contained within that sentence.)
My point is: does anyone else bored eat? It’s like comfort food for the dull.
I’ve just come to the realisation that I overeat when I’m bored, but when I’m sitting in front of the telly, I’m entertained enough not to bother. Ergo, we can conclude that television will actually help me maintain a healthy weight.
Who would’ve thought.
